Tom Klein started  building engines in 1965, taking his love of engine building to the next level in 1974 when he founded Klein Engines. Over the years Klein Engines continues to design, develop, manufacture, assemble, sell and recondition a wide variety of high-performance engines and specialty components for high-performance engines.

Klein markets its engines primarily to entities engaged in automotive, marine and airplane racing activities. Klein racing engines sanctioning body resume includes Indianapolis Racing League (major supplier of the Nissan Infiniti Indy Car V-8 for the 1997 Indy Racing League), American Indy Car Series, National Hot Rod Association drag racing, American Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws sprint cars, United States Automobile Club midget cars, and others.

Klein is also a proud partner with Nish Motorsports Naturally Aspirated Engine in its attempt to break 425 mph. Klein Engines staff has already helped power Nish Motorsports to a Small Block World Record of 344 mph, as well as a Unblown Single Engine World record of 412 mph.
